Highlights

Gaming

For a while I was eyeing to buy a Samsung odyssey G9. A top of the line monitor costing 1500 euros. However, this was before getting more in touch with my finances. Now that I am pursuing financial independence it makes less sense to indulge in such big purchases. Instead of going for the big purchase I decided to go for an iterative approach and start on a cheaper model. During the black friday sales one of those models got a hefty discount, so I decide to purchase. So now I have a nice budget ultrawide monitor for 350 euros. I feel like it makes me just as excited as I would've been when buying the expensive samsung monitor. After using it for a while I don't even see the need of getting the samsung one anymore. saving me from spending 1150 euros extra.

Music

I finally have the final pieces for my home studio setup. This includes the monitor mentioned above with a new headphone amp. For now this should be enough but if I feel the need I might get some monitor speakers in the future. I want to take the iterative approach here as well. First I want to see how the experience with headphones is and then decide if I still need speakers.

F1TV

Unfortunately the deal I found with my internet provider to get free F1TV is not applicable for the subscription I have. This means this expense will remain in place for now until a cheaper replacement shows up. I can however have this on a per month basis. So when the season ends I will cancel the subscription until next season. Saving me 3 months of expenses.

Planned changes

Car

We've decided to get rid of our second car. The expenses are too steep for the little usages it gets. Even without COVID-19 measures we don't expect to need both cars that often. In the summer I could use the motorcycle and if necessary I could buy a temporary cheap car for winters. We'll just have to experience how life will be with 1 car.
